Hormones: Estrogen

Many women are unnecessarily concerned about taking estrogen because a study published in 2002 concluded that the use of synthetic estrogen supplements increased the risk of heart disease and breast cancer. Fortunately, bio-identical estrogen does not pose the same risk as synthetic estrogen.

When bio-identical estrogen is prescribed in combination with bio-identical progesterone, your risk of breast cancer, heart disease and stroke actually is decreased.

Indications of low estrogen levels include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Insomnia
  • Low libido
  • Osteoporosis
  • Higher risk of heart disease and strokes
  • Higher incidence of Alzheimer’s and senility
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Urinary dysfunction
  • Sagging skin and breasts
  • Fatigue, depression, mood swings

Women who take bio-identical estrogen and progesterone experience a reduction in symptoms and a return to a more vital and vigorous life.
